COVID-19 Response

Update May 18:

To All Residents, Family Members and Team Members at The Summit at Glen Mills,

We want to let you know that we have now received the results back from last week’s COVID-19 testing. We were able to test 60 people total – that includes 27 team members and 33 residents. We want to thank Dr. John Hopkins and his team from CCS Healthcare for partnering with us to complete these tests.

We have three residents who have now tested positive and two of them are away from the community. One resident is not experiencing any symptoms and remains in isolation at the community. All team members who interact with this resident are wearing full personal protection equipment. There are six team members who tested positive and they will remain away from the community until the quarantine period has passed. We are still waiting on results for three team members and we will share those with you when we receive them. I am sure you join me in wishing the residents and team members the very best.

Based on these test results, our community will remain under our Enhanced Resident Protection Protocol for now. That means residents will stay in their apartments and the dining room will remain closed.

As always, thank you for your cooperation and encouragement as we work to limit the spread of the virus. We will continue to provide updates for you as we have new information.

Update May 14:

To All Residents, Family Members and Team Members at The Summit at Glen Mills,

We want to let you know that we were able to complete the resident and team member testing and we are now awaiting results. A big thank you to each of you for your participation.

We anticipate that we will have the test results in 48-72 hours, and we will share the information with you as soon as it is available. While we are hopeful that the test results do not indicate any additional cases of the virus, we are prepared for any possibility. If there are residents or team members who receive a positive diagnosis, we will let you know via phone as soon as possible. We will also provide an overall update to everyone at the community.

We are grateful to Dr John Hopkins and his team for working so quickly to implement the tests. We believe that by testing everyone at our community we will gain valuable information that will allow us to make operational decisions moving forward.

As we told you in previous communication, SERVPRO has been at the community, treating the apartment of the resident who tested positive along with the common areas of the community. This highly effective treatment creates negative pressure environments by installing air scrubbers, filters, and biotreating the area.

Again, thank you for continuing to follow our Enhanced Resident Protection Protocol, your support and cooperation are much appreciated.

Update May 12:

To All Residents, Family Members and Team Members at The Summit at Glen Mills,

We want to provide a quick update and let you know that we have now arranged for all residents and team members at the community to be tested for COVID-19. The testing will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, May 13 at the community. Dr. John Hopkins and his team will be implementing the testing. Many of you know Dr. Hopkins, he is the President and Founder of CCS Healthcare. Dr. Hopkins has been practicing medicine for 12 years and has been treating patients in senior living communities since 2016.

The testing for residents will begin at 9am and we will begin testing team members at 11am. We will work with you individually on scheduling. The test takes just a few minutes to perform and is relatively painless. We believe that knowledge is power and testing everyone at the community will give us the information we need to make the appropriate operational choices.

As we told you yesterday, SERVPRO is treating the apartment of the resident who tested positive along with the common areas of the community. This treatment creates negative pressure environments by installing air scrubbers, filters, and biotreating the area.

We truly appreciate your support and cooperation as we work together to limit the spread of the virus. Thank you for following our Enhanced Resident Protection Protocol and we will continue to provide updates as we have new information.

Update May 11:

To All Residents, Family Members and Team Members at The Summit at Glen Mills,

We want to let you know that two individuals at our community have tested positive for COVID-19. A resident was tested for the virus while seeking attention for an unrelated medical issue and is not currently experiencing any symptoms. This resident has been in isolation at the community since April 30 and that will continue. Team members who provide any services to this resident will continue to wear full Personal Protective Equipment.

A team member who tested positive was last in the community on May 7 and is recovering at home. The team member will not return to work until the quarantine period has passed and they are symptom free. Right now, we are reaching out to anyone who may have been in contact with either of these individuals. It is important to note that no other residents or team members are reporting symptoms of the virus and these are the only two individuals who have tested positive.

Our team continues to follow our Enhanced Resident Protection Protocol which means no visitors to the community, meals delivered to apartments and residents remaining in their apartments. In addition, we are bringing in SERVPRO, a national remediation and restoration company that specializes in health care sanitation and decontamination services using EPA approved methods, to treat the resident’s apartment and the community common areas. SERVPRO’s work aligns with the protocols set by the Centers for Disease Control – they are a trusted leader in the industry, used by hospitals and health care facilities around the country. They create negative pressure environments by installing air scrubbers, filters, and biotreating the entryway to the apartments. This is the most effective, safe, and reliable way to eliminate the virus and the treatment is effective for three months.

We are also working to test all residents and team members for the virus, and we will let you know as soon as we have a plan in place. We also believe it is prudent to pause the Fresh Air program at this time and will alert you when we are able to resume that program.

We want to thank you for your support and encouragement.
